That's true but it's usually @ 16 or 17 and generally reserved for serious or violent crimes, not 3 pot plants.

I think we all know that juveniles CAN be tried as adults, but trying a 15 year old as an adult for felonies that involved 3 marijuana plants is insane and unexpected. I hope the prosecuting attorney sleeps well knowing he singlehandedly almost ruined a life over a few bags of stupid pot. Let me guess, was this in Georgia?

Actually, starting at age 15, lots of states when it comes to drug felonies have an almost automatic go to adult court system where they have to specifically knock it down to someone being considered a youthful offender.

Since he also had the intent to distribute charge, in addition to the other felony charge, they probably weren't willing to drop it to a youthful offender status.
