I know this is a broad question, but where would be the best places to go in the US currently be for someone (not necessarily a recent graduate) looking for an entry-level position in business- or economics-related areas? Please also take the cost of living into account.
Go on indeed dot com and look for financial operations jobs. Things like keying in transactions or account maintenance. That will get you in the door .
And be under 30 and of a certain demographic in terms of appearance and of course not be unemployed or have any gaps in employment
Employers don't care about gaps in employment. Lots of posters on here try to use that as an excuse when they don't get called for interviews or job offers.

LOL, if they don't care, then why do they grill you about them? You think they just like wasting their time talking about it because they don't care?
If employers didn't care about gaps in employment they wouldn't bring the topic up at all and we wouldn't be having any issues with the long term unemployed getting hired. Asking about gaps is SOP in just about every interview with HR. They absolutely care. They care so much they use to even include it in ads, recent experience only or unemployed need not apply, until there was so much backlash from the public HR stopped including it in ads.
Gaps matter to them, absolutely considered a red flag.

Then why do some applications ask you to account for times that you were not employed?

And that's when you supposed to end the interview since employment gaps have nothing to do with the job. If you are being questioned about employment gaps the person already decided they wasnt giving you the job.

Never seen any applications like that and if i did I would stop filling out.
