Sitting in the airport because my flight is delayed, so I thought I would update you all!! So, no *official* job offer as of yet, but here's a quick break down of the day:

The HR Manager picked me up from the airport, we drove to their offices. He gave me a quick tour explaining all the buildings we passed. We get there and I am introduced to the front desk staff, people in the communications department and marketing - if offered, I would be working in their non-profit as a program manager, so these people are not ones that I would directly work with, and rarely if ever. We then sat down for a face to face interview because my other 4 interviews have been over the phone. The HR Manager is there as well as the person that would be my Executive Director, whom I have interviewed with prior as well. They asked me general questions, I asked them about their plans for reorganizing one of the programs in the non-profit. During the interview, I kept being told things like "Wow great answer", "Thanks for being so thoughtful with that response", etc.I was asked if I would plan on having longevity with them if offered the job. The HR Manager offered to send over a benefits snapshot for me to review later. I then met with the VP of government affairs, who I actually interviewed with prior and he passed my resume over to the non-profit for this job opening. His feedback on my interview with him was great - he said it was only timing for them to not offer me the job. They needed a local, and not someone that had to move there. We spoke for a good 15 minutes and then the Exec Dir drove me across town to meet the person that would be my counterpart if I was offered/took this job as she was working at a different location that day. Spoke with her for a good 20ish minutes, going over program demands and how my boss is as a manager (prompted from the Exec Dir herself). On the way back to the airport, I asked about when I would hear and she said "very very soon" as they would want me to start the 23rd contingent on getting an offer. So...

No meeting with the CEO, no official offer, but also no rejection.

What do you think about this?

It sounds reasonable, but don’t count on it.

Many people have a positive demeanor. It works well for a lot of jobs, and they simply say things such as “great comment” frequently.

Sending benefits info is reasonable at this stage. They planned on doing it before you boarded the plane.

Talking about timing is similar. They will talk about timing with everybody who is flown out.

I am not saying your results are bad. They aren’t. You simply cannot tell at this point, and getting your hopes up is a bad idea.

Good luck.

I really do not know. Did you ask about the CEO? Do not count on it until you receive an offer.

Employers today want too much.

I felt the exact same way about it that you both did. The process has been pretty extensive so far!

Today recieved an email to start background and reference checks and my references have been interviewed already!! At the least, moving forward in a positive way.

Fingers crossed!

This is a positive step. Not a definite, but a really good sign. Congratulations.

BTW, not surprised that you didnít get a face to face with the actual CEO. I think you said this is a job as a program manager, reporting to an exec director, within a subsidiary organization/Corp? If so, the job probably doesnít rank senior enough to warrant a CEO interview. You did meet with pretty senior people who have authority and autonomy in their subject areas, so that is great news as well.
