It is one of those questions that people who don't do the actual work of the employer asks a candidate for whatever reason. In other words the people who do work might ask your experience with something relevant, but the people who don't do the work of the company ask these general questions. I call it more a red flag about the employer if they aren't more serious. You want to be asked things that I might call "matters at hand", "we have this need can you fill it?" type stuff and not fluff.

If interview is all fluff look elsewhere unless you are sure about what goes on, as it may be an "over managed" red flag about the employer. I am retired but over managed places are not the place to go that is for sure, and there are plenty of over managed employers.
