We always make the decision after the last interview, and ask the person selected for their references. Until the references are checked and person accepts our offer we don't notify anyone else that was interviewed. That typically takes 10-14 days. If you are interviewed here and here nothing for a week you were probably not selected, but that's just us. Every company does it their own way.
To many factors to give a concrete answer. If you were the first to be interviewed, it'll like take longer than if you were one of the last. Summers/holidays may take longer. A very much needed position may take much less time (incumbent left suddenly or a deadline is looming, etc.). And some simply have longer interview processes than others. And these factors can impact the timing for different positions within the same company. So just because someone said it took them 3 months to get hired at company A doesn't' necessarily mean it can't take just 2 weeks for you.
They ask for references 1-3 days after if interested with an offer 1-10 days after that. Occasionally I’ll wait longer and get an offer, but usually not.
Decent companies will let you know if they have moved on or decide to hire you. Mine have been 1-2 weeks.
