A friend of mine was filing out a job application for a government job and it asked for "verification of your college degree". What does that mean? Just list all the information? Attach a copy of the diploma? Attach a copy of the transcripts? Attach official, sealed transcripts? Something else?
This got me thinking, do most jobs still ask every applicant for college transcripts? Or does it vary depending on the type of job?
Thank you.
(I received my undergraduate degree over 40 years and recently I discovered that I needed an official college transcript to apply to a part time job in my field.)

We don’t ask for a transcript, and I have never been asked for my diploma. We get verification through the background check, we pay a company to do them, I have no idea how they do it.
My job made me bring in my physical diploma on my start date. I assume they validated it's authenticity as well through calling the school or something.
A third party required me to upload a copy of my diploma or requested college transcripts instead. I uploaded the transcripts since I didnt have the physical diploma at the time.
There is also a clearing house that many third parties use in order to verify enrollment dates at a college/university. They could also call the school directly. Depends on the level of investigation the employer pays for.
I scanned my diplomas and transcripts and saved them to PDF. If you apply by attaching a resume in email, you can attach the PDF of the diploma at the same time. Otherwise, the job application systems employers use usually allow you to upload a resume and other documents when you submit the application.

Anything you can upload you can forge and photoshop. What a horrible way to verify.
You are usually asked to upload an unoffical transcript then if you will be hired, they can contact the school to verify or request official transcripts.

You could do that, but when the verification takes place they will learn that you lied and submitted forged documents. Immediate termination.
