What is my chance of getting a job offer after I have gone through 2 phone ( 1 with only the hire manager and 1 with the site GM, hiring manager and HR manager) interview and now they flying my family and I out for an onsite?

Nothing is ever guaranteed or certain but as someone in HR, only the finalists are the ones who end up being flown out for interviews. For you to have gone through all of those phone interviews and now with the company bringing you AND the family to their location, I would say that this is a very positive sign.

Usually it is down to 2 or 3 final candidates by the time my company starts hauling people in for the final rounds of interviews.

It sounds very promising so good luck with the interview

It depends on the industry, company and hiring manager. Without specifics such as this, I would say about 1 in 3 or 1 in 4.

Many companies fly in the final contenders, not simply the single final candidate. This is an expense they are willing to take on for sufficiently senior positions in order to make the best decision.

All things being equal, if you are the only candidate being flown in for one job, you will either get an offer (100%) or you will not (0%). Even if they are flying-in multiple, equally qualified candidates for the same position, you will still either get an offer (100%) or not (0%).

Of course, you are asking about statistical probability, which might come into play if all things and candidates (and the job circumstances) were equal. But, that is almost a statistical improbability. Therefore, since you don't know the other candidates or how you compare to them, there is really no objective way to determine your probability of getting a job offer.

Why would they fly your family as well? I would be questioning if I was in charge of the company, why company expenses are being spent on flying an applicants family out to a location for an interview . They may have mounting debt and a spending problem and may not stay in business because of it. These type of foolish spending tactics need to be looked at from the applicant's perspective as well.

I have had my spouse flown out with me for interviews on a couple of occasions.

Companies fly families out if they are looking for a stable person who is willing to make a long term commitment at a high level. It reduces turnover, and is a very small cost when compared to other recruiting expenses.

This is simply another area where you know very little about how the business world actually works.

Plane tickets aren't exactly cheap these days..

Offering a good salary for the position, career growth and treating employees like humans instead of parasites to starve and you can reduce turnover. Its still smart to be fiscally conservative however. I see no reason to where its a mandatory to be flying family members are out as well as if they are the one applying for the job.

Again, if it was me I would be questioning needless spending habits (Like family members out) if I was running things.

You're too "brilliant" to speak to however. I can't even begin to subscribe to your in depth business knowledge. No one knows anything except the brilliant managers like yourself that are above reproach

They are so much cheaper than having to restart a national search because somebody's spouse scuttles the deal and your candidate quits 6 weeks into the new position. What is another $400 when it saves tens of thousands?

True. And that has exactly nothing to do with the reasons for flying a spouse out for a site visit.

That is your short sightedness then. It isn't mandatory, it is simply a good idea.

I would question a manager who made a hire with a high possibility of the person bailing on the position, who offered a job without mitigating every possible risk.

Not brilliant. Highly competent perhaps. Certainly not above reproach, as I have certainly made mistakes. One of the things that differentiates us is experience. I have more, and I am willing to learn from those mistakes. You simply want to complain about how stupid everybody else is.

Well.. Sometimes stupidity needs to identified and removed. And removed sooner rather than later. There are just some positions you can't be stupid at because it will affect business and the life of tons of people.. A huge problem is the lack of accountability today placed on leaders.

If there any semblance of accountability today, many places wouldn't have the problems they have

Your chances depend on the number of candidates being interviewed for the same position.

Are they interviewing 10? Then your chances are 1/10.
