Not being facetious, but what to you think? You honestly don't know?
I know, that's why you asked. Right?

selhars I dislike people like you. If you cant give a positive answer why post. Key your negative comments to yourself. I was only asking a simple question just to be on the safe side. Nothing wrong in asking a question, people like you make me do not want to ask questions.

Grizz, you should read this thread: My next job - where?

It won't answer your specific question about whether people at the IRS are proceeding with the candidate selection, but it will give you an idea of what it means to be referred and the speed at which you can expect to hear back.

The short answer is "referred" means almost nothing, and speed is measured in months, not days or weeks.

Yes.

That's why you keep applying.

IRS - are you looking to be an auditor? Many agencies need them, not just the IRS.

It might. Don't know the details of which sorts of operations in which agencies are shut down and which are not. You might be able to find out by contacting the OPM specialist who sent you the notice that your application was forwarded. They usually assign one to each vacancy announcement. However, if the OPM operation was also shut down that might be your answer as well.

If the shutdown doesn't delay the interview and selection of the new employee, a Continuing Resolution might. CRs often mean that affected agencies can't finish the process to interview or select new employees. If a selection hasn't gotten past a certain point in the process it can't proceed. It sits until the CR lifts. The agency can only continue spending their previously approved budgets, not spend any more than that until the CR is lifted.

It could be a while, since it's not just the IRS, it's the entire Federal government. And even though your application status says referred, you're not guaranteed an interview, because the job may have been advertised just as a formality, and they already have someone for the job. It happens all the time.

Hello all, i received this email . What do you all think. This is a different position

This is an DHX announcement#, this means Direct Hire. Direct Hire announcements are used to fill positions as they become available.

The letter you received was to notified you that the system deemed you eligible for review based on how you answered the questions. Your application will be reviewed by management. If they are interested you will be notified by them for a possible interview.

It just means that you're eligible for the job, and there's no guarantee of an interview. If management is interested in you after reviewing your applications, they'll contact you for an interview.

But don't get your hopes up, because you have lots of competition. It took one of my friends eight years to get a job transfer, so be patient. I have another friend that's been applying for two years to get back in, and hasn't had any luck yet.

So just sit back and wait, and no one knows how long.
