Recruiters get a lot of flack. I know I have also given them flack.

I applied for a job back in early April and the internal recruiter reached out to me to set up an interview a few days later. Today I heard from her and she said that they have taken the job in a different direction (ie. much lower level than originally posted @) & that they really liked me and invited me to apply to any of their other postings.

Truthfully, I am so happy & appreciative she called me and updated me on the position! Most recruiters will just ghost and that's it, you never hear from them, or it's some bullcrap automated rejection letter.

I am sure telling a candidate they have not been selected is never easy, but I know as a job seeker I am very appreciative of honesty … even if it is just an email.

This woman is truly an HR gem

Yup. There are good recruiters and I recommend other candidates to them.

I have had good ones in past, when you get one that works it really is something great.

They get a bad rep for a reason but there are some good ones. Just like any other profession.

I'm dealing with a bad recruiter right now. He's new and has lots of new-recruiter habits.
Works 8:30-5:00PM (poor hours if you're recruiting people who are already working)
Takes off early on Fridays
No-show for scheduled video interviews
Clearly hasn't read my resume (was 'impressed' with my background for a position outside of work experience in the past 15 years).
Maybe he's just bad to me. Who knows?

If you land a job. Recruiter = good

If you don't. Same Recruiter = bad
