Hello all,
I worked for years in a healthcare setting before going to graduate school to teach. I'm currently a teacher but considering a part-time gig in medical transcription. It appears it requires some online training and pays around $20/hour in Boston area. Any advice/information anyone can provide appreciated.
There are no medical transcription jobs that require no experience. You'll get your online training and then try to apply, only to hear "why is this teacher applying for a medical transcriptionist job" and reject you for not having no experience.
So unless the training provides an internship you've got no way around the catch-22.

You need to re read what the OP said. He/she worked I the healthcare industry for years.
But you're not giving the OP advice that could help. I know the job market can be unforgiving but those comments don't help either,
Telling someone that they can get a job without experience is not helpful. Only schools like to say things like that because they care about getting tuition dollars.
I did give good advice - get the internship. OP can do this internship during the summer when they're off on teaching, right?
If the training program does not come with an internship, the program is worthless. So my advice to make sure the training program has an internship is helpful.

They're looking for something on the side.
Again, you didn't read what they were asking for.

@mmays I did a quick search maybe 15-20 mins and picked 3 sites that may be helpful and there's plenty of info available. Best of luck to you.
