I have applied for about 1 dozen administrative positions in the last few months to out of state law firms and received a few responses. All the firms that I applied to had the name of the company, including the one I sent the other day through Monster. I did not post my resume on Monster, just applied for a job, nor did I apply to any jobs that were posted by agencies. The other day I received an email from a company stating they received my resume and I want to schedule a phone interview. I replied by calling them and they e-mailed me back. I'm just curious how they received my info. My husband thinks it may have been given to them by another firm. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

This has happened to me. I had sent my resume out to several offices and got calls from 2 places that i did not send a resume to.

They were not call backs. They were calls saying they had my resume and would like for me to interview with them.

I was hired at one of the places recently.

Be carefull. Im giving up my long self employed career and moving to Texas. I am seeking a regular wage job and I have my resume on Monster. I have received several offers from totally unrelated trades. Anyone can get access to those resumes. So be careful.

Some of the headhunter agencies network. That means if they have an engineering job lead, and they don't have a person for it, and another place does, they give it to another agency who sends them a lead for something else and so on. They are all connected. I am not surprised at this, have had it happen to me several times.

There is at least one company (with "Global" in the name) that calls people and pretends to be inviting them for an interview and then when you get there in person, they try to sell you "personal marketing" services to supposedly help you with your job search by introducing you to potential employers. They charge $5K-$10K for this and the "help" that they provide is not worth anywhere near that fee. I'm not sure how they get the contact information...I think they might be paying someone for the info.

You will get spam when you sign up for monster.com. I just did, the minute I did, I started to get spam a few days later. It happened the same 5 years ago when I was on monster.com.

Didn't Monster website make the news a while back for their site being compromised or hacked into?
