The job does not sound respectful or organized. They should have stated a car was preferred.

But people ask if you have a job, which is a stupid question, but many people who design their own resumes are often leaving off of their resume jobs that are not career related.
If you fill out a job application, then it should not happen, but then again, applications are too small and also do not allow a full disclosure of previous jobs.

It was stated as CLEAR AS DAY on my resume that I stopped working in January of 2009. My resume was in front of his face during the interview and he still asked if I'm employed? This has happened on every Job interview I had AFTER the month of January and I can't figure out why.

Far as the interview it was about a hour and afterwards he wanted me to meet the HR person so she can explain the benefits to me. But after hearing more about the job, It appears I may not be a good fit especially when he asked-"do you have a car?" I said no and he then sad-"oh well it's not that big of a deal some of our staff don't have cars" But the job does require a lot of traveling and I think it should have been mentioned in the ad. So as for now, I will continue to prepare for my other job interviews for next week.

if they're sitting around watching TV all day, they are likely not who I want working for me, but if they are taking initiative and doing what needs to be done, I would certainly move them to the top of the list for hiring!
What if, at the time, they're just looking for a job?...that IS what needs to be done.

IMO, you're position is why many people HATE job hunting. Why does a person have to be doing anything other than looking for a job? If they were let go with a severance package, what's wrong with them doing nothing but job hunting? They may not need to work for six months or so. Maybe the welcomed the break to do nothing for a while.

Just so I understand your thought process, would you hold that against an applicant? Would you prefer they make up something just to give you "the right answer?" Which you'd never know was the truth anyway.....

Which is why many people just say what they need to say to get hired....whether it's the truth or not.
