How many people woth the night shift? My full time job is on nights and I am looking to make some extra income. On my days off (I only work 7 days in a 2 week period) I have tried working a regular part time job but it does not work. My body clock is set to working nights so I figured look for a job on nights as a part time job...

So that said, what places have night shift.....does HD and Lowes?

Thanks

Night shift is very bad for your health, if you do that for more than 5 years, the likelihood of your getting serious health problems such as cancer increases dramatically. There was a program on that just recently, I was surprised how bad and widespread working night shifts is, we really should get our priorities right. Except for hospital employees and firefighters there is no real need for people to work at night.

I do, and I absolutely dread it. You can waay too many crazies during the night shift and you're constantly looked down upon. One of my coworkers joking said our night shift is the equivalent to a carny.

I'm retired, but worked night shift for most of my working career.

19 years on a 3am-noon " early morning shift", 10 years on swing shift that rotated every week, and my last 4 years on a 7pm-7am shift.

I loved working those shifts, but I always was worn out and tired compared to the few years I worked a " normal" day shift.

Everyone I know that works night shift ( myself included) never got enough sleep cuz the body doesn't adjust to sleeping in the daytime. ( IMHO)

Yes, they said that too in the report. People tend to feel tired and worn-out. Plus, there are many essential processes in the body which only take place during phases when one is fast asleep. For instance growth hormones which help in repairing the body are only produced during sleep. Same goes for other substances. The brain needs a lot of sleep to sort out sensations of the past day etc. The problem is that the body cannot easily be tricked into believing it is night when actually it is day, not even when it is dark in the bedroom.

Night shift screws up our internal clocks, which have not changed ever since humans first evolved.
