Mazel Tov to Barbra Streisand, although I think she should be honored by a music school such as Curtis or Juilliard.

Exactly what I was thinkng. Isnt an honorary doctorate supposed to imply that the work one did in their field is equal to what they would have done to earn a doctorate?

My husband has an earned doctorate in philosophy. It's actually incredibly difficult to get and I have to wonder which of her deeds, while laudable, would merit a doctorate in philosophy. Has she actually added some value to the existing body of philosophical thought?

According to article, she is being recognized for her work in the areas of civil rights and social justice.

She already has an honorary doctorate from Brandeis.
