Hello,

To anyone who has made aliyah, I am wondering the following:

1. How hard is it to live in Israel if you speak English?

2. How does the business climate and culture differ from the United states?

3. How similar is Tel Aviv to Honolulu or Los Angeles?

4. What do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of Israeli society compared to American society?

Thanks

This is coming from my friend who moved to Israel from America 3 years' ago

1. Many people have good knowledge of English in Israel as they learn it in school.
2. Israelis work longer hours and more than typical American, and much more than European. Israelis work 6 days a week (Sabbath off). Sunday is a regular work day. Israel has Jewish culture while America has Christian culture. In some places stores are open on Sabbath, while in others they are not.
3. Tel Aviv is more similar to Miami than LA and Honolulu. Climate is similar to LA though.
4. Depends what you like.

Israelis are a lot better looking than American Jews, probably because they all have to serve in the military, and because they eat healthy vitamin and fiber-rich Mediterranean food instead of an Eastern European hi-carb diet.
