Agreed! Yes, I believe that Bat Mitzvahs are empowering for our females to learn and study Torah.

My niece had a Bat-Mitzva ceremony at a Chabad Center run by a Chabad Rabbi in front of a mixed audience. I think it was very empowering for her.

*An aliyah is a synagogue honor where a congregant goes up to the bimah (platform) and recites the blessings over the Torah before and after the reader reads a section of the Torah.
