While I do appreciate and recognize the value of using non-English words for specific religious terms. It has become a bit unwieldy and encouraged/assisted violations of the TOS.

I must now insist that English only be used. The exception being for Religious phrases/words/places specific for Judaism. In which case I must insist an English explanation be put in Parenthesis, along side the word or phrase.

Existing posts are not affected. This applies to posts made after today Feb 21,2014

How many times do we have to translate a phrase or word before we no longer have to?

I have a poster stalking all my messages and translating the same word over and over again (and incorrectly at that)?

We Jews are a people capable of learning a few words that Jews use in every day conversation. To constantly translate (and incorrectly with hateful agendas) others people posts is much worse behavior than letting a very occasional Hebrew or Yiddush word in a post.

I think if we are going to require Jews to translate Jewish words to other Jews, basically appealing to the lowest common denominator (which is a deeply unJewish practice), then we need to forbid posters from translating other people's posts.

This is not the forum for Ashkenazi Orthodox Jews - this is a forum to discuss ALL Jewish issues including Ladino-speaking Jews and interested non-Jews. And even if that were NOT the case, the TOS for City-Data on the whole requires English as the only language of communication. Even though most people on the Mexico subforum likely speak Spanish, you do not see Spanish spoken in that subforum because it is not allowed.

You agreed to abide by the TOS when you chose to post on City-Data.

I am rethinking the wisdom of my posting this thread. I am going to consult with other mods and see if I over acted.

In the mean time

THREAD CLOSED FOR MOD CONSIDERATION
