Yidden can find many interesting insights when thinking about Purim, and when studying the writings of the Jewish sages. Any thoughts you'd all like to share, as we approach the holiday this coming motzei shabbos?
For me, the central theme is that Hashem is involved in every detail of Jewish history, and in our lives. We learn much about putting in our hishtadalus (worldly effort), and then leaving the rest for hashgacha pratis (Devine providence).
I find it interesting that HaShem is not directly mentioned in the Book of Esther other than the remark from Mordecai about how help will come from another place (4:14) if she does not do her duty.
I see a strong connection between Purim and the Shoah (Holocaust). Even the fact that ten men were hanged at the Nuremberg Trials for the Nazi crimes, just as Haman's ten sons were hanged, when ordinarily high-ranking officers would have been executed by firing squad instead. This connection was supposedly noted by one of the Nazis at the trial, too.

Just google "Purimfest 1946."
Pretty fascinating connection. But the connection goes deeper. Our sages have said that Hitler and the Germans are from the nation of Amalek, just as Haman was. Same people trying to annihilate the Jewish people - the only difference was in the time of Haman, the Jews did tshuvah and were redeemed. The outcome wasn't as good with the Germans. Wonder why?
