It would be so sad if we were descended from nothing better than a monkey. Seems like self hatred to me to say Jews evolved from apes.
The origin of our souls is a religious question. Where we come from scientifically is not a matter of what we personally think is right and just. Biology makes a lot of sense with the fish --> ape --> human evolutionary theory but the "God did it, end of story" theory doesn't tell us anything useful or make meaningful predictions. Remember, evolutionary theory isn't some holy scripture. TFF if you can come up with a better theory that explains in detail the origins of individual cells and chemical processes in living things, then scientists will be happy to switch to your theory.
I do wonder, however, how my fish ancestors would have tasted fried. Would they have been as tasty as grouper or as bad as a carp? I would like to believe that I descended from something that tasted good.
Genetically we are 85% related. Taste wise depends on the other 15%.

I'm not particularly interested in converting any scientifically minded folks into creationists. I think G-d created Adam haRishon from the dust of the earth, Chava from Adam, then they had babies.
The idea that a single cell became a fish which became an ape which became a person, and all that happening in 5,775 years seems very far-fetched to me.

Well, that bears in mind that you think the world is only 5,775 years old.
I am of the same mind as JB. Religious and believe in evolutionary theory.
