In 1948, Israel fought her first war, beat back her enemies, and indeed, gained independence. However, in that war, Israel also lost the historic heartland to the British-backed Jordanians. These areas included the Temple Mount, the Mount of Olives, and the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and also Bethlehem, Hebron, Shiloh, Shechem, and Bethel. 19 years later, in response to aggressive preparations of Arab states for a war that called for total annihilation of the Jewish State, Israel launched a dazzling preemptive strike and in short order liberated occupied areas - including Jerusalem. Jerusalem Day marks the reunification of Jerusalem and, more broadly, the victory of the 6 Day War and the liberation of Israel's historic heartland.

He's a fan of J-Street, an American Jewish hate group.

He is a Jew by birth and probably had a Bar Mitzvah. He has no affiliation to any group.

Linky: No Jewish upbringing at all. A truly "off the road" Jew.

Read the first article. He went to public schools. His Hebrew school was most likely a Sunday school to prepare him for his Bar Mitzvah and going to Israel is pretty normal for a Jew at any level to gain the Israeli experience.
