Although I have not seen any more Shtisel, I did watch the Israeli series "When Heroes Fly" (season 1 on Netflix) and there the religious guy seems to become less orthodox and I was wondering also how realistic is that in real life as his wife seems to accept the situation in the end.

Is anyone watching this on Netflix or seen it on Israeli TV? If so do you think it shows accurately the issues facing Hassidic/Ultra-Orthodox Jews in everyday life?
My wife and I watched episode 1 just a few days ago and found it entertaining, I'm far from qualified to judge its accuracy but, in fact, my question would be somewhat different, i.e.: Do you perceive the series as being biased?

Err, its a drama show not a documentary.

Not sure I know what that means. If a TV show is called a drama, nothing in it can possibly be a lie?

Jews have been the victims of lies in many forms, in many countries, perhaps Belgium most recently.

The opening post specifically asked if the portrayals are accurate.

Doesn't matter. If it's inaccurate enough, it ruins the entire show.
I find it all the time with military-based shows... it makes my skin crawl when they have a Marine with the wrong components on his uniform and they keep referring to him as "soldier".

It is true that a drama show isn't a documentary. But I prefer portrayals to be as accurate as possible within the storyline.
