I'm a name nerd, so I love talking about names and naming. And, being Jewish, I especially love talking about Jewish names.

What are some of your favorite Hebrew or Yiddish names? These are mine:

Girls:
Ahava
Raizel
Shoshana

Boys:
Ari
Baruch
Dovid

Here's a new show

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x49HQdW4u7Q

it should be of interest not for its content but for its title.

"It's about Lazar Wolf, the butcher. A good man. A fine man. And I don't have to tell you he's well off, no?"

Rosends, that cartoon is almost as weird as hearing that Harvey Fierstein was cast for the role Tevye on Broadway. (Which I went to see, and Harvey was really good!)

My daughter's Hebrew name is Tziporah. It's always been one of my favorites.

That's another one of my favorites! Although the hypocoristic form of "Tzippy" is more than twice as popular among Chabad Lubavitchers.

Another great name! Reuven is also the most popular, masculine "R" name in the Brooklyn Jewish community. My Hebrew name is the one I use on this forum, although the transliteration "Rochel" is nearly six times more popular than "Rachel."

Micah.

I had toyed with the idea of making it my legal name, but then I'd have to explain how to pronounce it to every non-Jew I met (and wince as they failed miserably).

I once called her "Tzippy" as a nickname, and had to duck as she threw a book at me.
Needless to say, she's not a fan....

LOL! Imagine what she might have done to you if you'd teased her with "Tzippy doo dah."
