I know one percent is a tiny and almost insignificant percentage but I am one percent Jewish and it is on my mom's side. I know Jewish heritage is maternal.
I was wondering would I still be considered a gentile, even if I have a small trace of Jewish lineage?

What exactly do you mean by "one percent Jewish"? If your mother wasn't 100% Jewish or you haven't converted to Judaism, then you are not Jewish.
If your mother's mother's mother's mother's....... was Jewish, then you are as well.
Judaism is passed through the maternal line. A Jewish woman's children will always be Jewish, regardless of their father. A Jewish man's children are Jewish only if their mother is Jewish as well.
A lot of people take DNA tests and, when they get results saying that something like 1% to 4% of their DNA is also shared by Ashkenazi Jews, they get the idea that they somehow must be Jewish, too.
People neglect to realize that a vast majority of those of European descent also have 1% to 4% of Neanderthal DNA in them. That doesn't make you a Neanderthal, either.
He's going by results from DNA tests. My mother's DNA shows that 1%, also. Not sure how that works, though, or what they are considering genetically Jewish.

How much Neanderthal DNA does she have? (See my post above.)

Love you JB. But totally wrong. Nobody should believe this.
