I've said it many times and CrownVic95 sums it up just fine.

Above and in this post as well http://www.city-data.com/forum/14822779-post125.html

Well, thanks KCMO for the information. I appreciate the transit advice as well, good to hear the buses are equipped to handle the bikes. If you are all calling him on his crap (apparently) then can someone else give me insight as well?

In almost every thread, you figuratively step on the rake and crash the handle into your head by framing your comments as part of the war (in your mind) between Missouri and Kansas. You almost always see an opportunity for a Kansas put-down and you almost always seize it. It destroys your credibility - thread after thread.

It is really a shame, because you have a lot of detailed knowledge that could/would be taken more seriously if you could/would agree to a cease fire. Please do yourself and the forum a favor - think about it.
Agreed. Maybe its time to sit a few plays out Champ.

We regret the diversion. Unfortunately a lot of threads in the Kansas and Kansas City forums deteriorate quickly into senseless KS/MO bickering and some of us are trying to lead it toward higher ground, so to speak.

As to your OP, I don't know how relevant my comments would be to your particular situation. My first question would be - are you familiar with Kansas City summer weather? I'm from Buffalo and Rochester myself - many years ago - and I can tell you that you will not see the summer comfort you are accustomed to there from probably mid-May to late September in KC. So I personally would not be biking anywhere during the KC summer as I find the heat and humidity there prohibitive to strenuous outdoor activity. But that's just me - some people see it quite differently. My favorite times of the year in KC were fall and winter, by far.

kcmo is right about KCK being high crime and that is another reason I would not see myself biking or walking much there. Some neighborhoods may be ok - others are not. Sorry, I can't really help beyond that as I rarely spent any time in KCK when I lived in the area.

I agree with what KCMO has posted. Strawberry hill is a neat area for sure, and KCK in general has a lot of potential. But it does have an uphill battle because of the way it is viewed by others as well well as legitimate concerns due to crime. I think you could find some good opportunities in KCK to be an urban pioneer but if that's not for you than like KCMO said the river market is nearby. Personally I'd love to see KCK become a covington, ky. But that does take money to invest. Despite what us posters make it look like sometimes, KC is an awesome place to live and in reality the state line doesn't play much of a role at all when it comes to our daily lives. Good luck with your search, and Welcome to KC!

EDIT:

I found this link about redevelopment in KCK thought it might interest you. http://cityvisionkck.org/home/history/ Also, the KU architecture students have been building LEED housing as part of their schooling in KCK.

I tell it like it is, if you kansas people don't like it, I really don't give a %$&^.

ryanelguiri, you are not going to get any information on KCK from these people because they don't know anything about it other than where Nebraska Furniture Mart is.

At least pioneer88 contributed something.
