Jeff,

I sent you a PM.

Your house will sell. Hopefully in this next week!!

It will be great to trade info on Dr's, mechanics and such. We will have to have our cars registered and inspected I believe within 30 days of moving!!

There is a nutty process for getting your cars registered. First, get them inspected. I recommend Gene's Tires behind the Ark Animal Hospital on 291. Then go to the court house downtown with any registration/tax receipt paperwork you have to get a tax waiver. Then take the tax waiver, inspection papers, and registration papers to the license bureau on Kansas St. across the street from the BP station & Walgreens.

Thanks Betsy, I hadn't even thought about car registration yet, what with all the house stuff! Nice step by step instructions (exactly what I need, LOL!) About how much per car will it cost?

Thank you Betsy!! I was wondering where we should go for a car inspection. It does seem a little confusing for me. We don't have to do all that extra leg work here in MD. I amy have to ask you some more questions. I will start with one though. What is the tax waiver?

Karla

I also forgot to mention to take proof of insurance to the license bureau as well. A tax waiver will prevent you from having to pay personal property tax on the vehicle at the time of registration here. When you purchase a vehicle and each year, at the end of the year, you get a personal property tax bill (for 2 vehicles ours ran around $700 last year). You won't receive your first bill until the end of the 2008. Initial inspection and registration should cost you around $40-$50 a car I think. Feel free to PM me on anything you might need.
