Hello Everybody,

I was just notified I am being transferred to KC (Super Happy BTW).
Been trying to get there for some time. Gonna be there in about two weeks to a month (not sure until HR gives me my report date). I'm a single divorced dad with temp custody looking for a 2bd near KCI. I have been looking at a bunch of Apartments online - Bicycle Club, Wau-Lin, Oak Brook, the ethans. Looking for something around 950-1100sqf. Need to stay under $700 preferably including utilities. I'm finding that is hard to do. Any thoughts on these apartments or any you may know about would help. Any and all assistance would be appreciated!

I would think that area is such a prefered area that finding something in that price range will take some effort. I would look in the school districts of ; Liberty, MO., Atchinson, KS. and St. Joseph, MO. KCI is not hard to get to from anywhere in the Metro area. Its well placed on 435. I think from overland park it can't be too much more than 20 min.

It wont take much effort at all. The Ethans are nice. I know plenty of people that live there and it is in that price range. Actually, all the apartments at 169 Hwy and Barry Rd should fit that profile. You may also try Hunter's Glen.

I think I do remember something out on Barry Rd. right next to a newer grade school. It didn't look too exspensive.

Thanks for the info on the Barry Road areas.

Got into an issue though. Was just told they are planning to move my groups office downtown come fall. So now all my plans, printouts and leg work trying to locate a place with easy access is out the door.

So now I start over. Gonna try to find a place in between downtown and KCI.
Unless of course anyone knows of a rocking deal on downtown properties?

Fly out Today-Saturday in a about 2 hours and fly back Tuesday Morning.

Anyway Thanks folks for your input. Hopefully I can find a happy medium now.

You're in luck. Living north of the river will give you probably the best commute to downtown than anywhere else in the KC area. All previous suggestions are good ones. You might also look at apartments in the I-29 and 64th Street area and also complexes near the Bicycle Club - there are several on Green Hills Road.

I checked out a few apts so far and will be hitting it hard today.

1. The Ethans were not bad! May be a good fit, have to check in today to see about 2bd units being available.

2. Chateau D'Mons is right about my price range $765 2bd remodeled that included all Utilities paid. Nice Apt.

3. Hunters Glen seemed kinda run down

4. Madison at Walnut Creek - No 2bd till mid Sept. - Nice place though

5. Wau Lin Cree - Run Down - I'm no realty expert but if your going to show apartments fix things like doors hanging off ovens. The other issue ** Brown Recluse Spiders ** Went to a third floor Apt to view it. All the way up the stairs -every other stair had spider burrows in the corners, and inside the apt. were numerous spider webs, and lastly on the deck which opened to the woods (would look really nice) if not for the Whole Deck being infested with spiders / webs and other issues. This is why pest control companies are in business. The last thing I want is my daughter or I continually bit in the middle of the night. I know a lot about Brown Recluse Spiders - A good friend of mine lost three fingers on his right hand due to a major reaction from multiple spider bites from one. Living in the midwest I have been bitten by one after grabbing a baseball from a bush as a kid which luckily just caused a rash for me. Not a place I would ever do business with if they take that little care in an issue that big.

Gonna check out some places in between today.

The Forest Park - Seams Nice -I check out the insides today.
El-Centro or something like that.
A few Duplexes
and trying to speak with loft places. Though almost guarantee out of my price range.

So here goes a full day of hunting

Well found a nice complex off Vivion right in between the airport and downtown. That should last me a while while I familiarize myself with my new surroundings. I've flown back to my old home now to pack like crazy.

Thanks for input folks! Now my next task once getting there is to try to find a decent deal downtown on Lofts or APTs / Townhomes near Union Station.

To say I'm excited to get back to hills, green grass, parks that people actually use and where I again have 4 seasons - IS A HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT!
