If I lived in kc, can u do schooling in say mission or liberty. I know things like this were allowed in Milwaukee. My good friend lived in Milwaukee but he ended up going to school in a suburb.

I don't know about on the MO side.

It used to be allowed in SM district long ago but it's not anymore. You have to be a resident in Shawnee Mission district.

You can check other district websites under enrollment info, but it's likely the same.

Too bad. With all of the budget cutting, it would be a good way to make up some revenue. Odds are though that it would be about as expensive as sending your kid to private school if you were crossing the state line. KS wouldn't pay for the headcount and so the parents would have to pay the full cost (over $6k) plus some to make it worthwhile to the school. Then too, the public school would have to deal with parents who had a "private school" mentality ... on second thought ... it's probably best they don't do it.

^^ I would think 6-8K is still cheaper than academically competitive private schools -- at least on the secondary level. I haven't priced them in KC, but in St. Louis good secondary private schools are really 10+ (many over 15k)

I don't think it is allowed in most districts. There used to be bussing into KCMO when they were de-seging the school discrict.

At one time they did. I hope what you say is true, but in the past, Kansas taxpayers have footed the bill for Missouri kids attending Kansas schools, with no reimbursement from Missouri, because "it's too complicated."

The source was me attending a USD416 school board meeting. I specifically asked if the Missouri kids attending USD416 schools paid anything to the district and was told that the State of Kansas pays the district "$X" (I can't remember how much it was) to the district regardless of where the child lives.
