The point is that, whether you or I like it or not, the MO Gaming Commission has essentially complete and total control over where casinos are located. They control what rivers and cities they are built on and if any are even built at all (they could absolutely decide not to issue any license at this time, though I doubt highly that will prove to be the case).

Given this, I can't imagine what you see wrong with residents (and other interested parties like former residents who still are interested in the goings ons of the community) discussing the merit of particular plans. If Missouri is only going to have a few casinos, it warrants discussion of where those casinos should best be situated for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is future profitability.

Well, I have not seen any proof that "some" members have any interest at all in what is truly going on in KC, but only show up to stir up controversy and take the sides of debates that are generally not in the best interest of the community as a whole. Not sure I get that

I think you need to hang out in some of the other forums more often then. I have found that the vast majority of regular posters here care a great deal about the issues they debate (even those with whom I regularly disagree). The Chicago forum seems to often be full of actual trolls -- those who have absolutely nothing but drama, politics and just plain weird stuff to add to the conversation.

Oh, I agree, the vast majority do, there are only a couple that seem to be more trollish.

Well, since I said nothing about discussing a plan being wrong, the real question is what you see wrong with expressing an opinion of an opinion.

Aren't you the one who told kcmo to move to a socialist country because he shared an opinion?

Yes ... there's a stellar business plan: Target your multimillion dollar investment in a casino to people who don't go to casinos very often.

You never cease to entertain me kcmo ...

In addition to those that go regardless. You see, I have little interest in casinos, but will go to them once in a while if they have more going on than just a gambling floor. I'll drop 60 bucks.

That's $60 they wouldn't have otherwise in addition to their more regular customers.

This is why Ameristar pulls in far more people from a wider demographic than Isle of Capri.

It actually makes a lot of sense. But I understand if you don’t get it. It's pretty complicated

If a casino offers other activities, it does bring in patrons that otherwise would not go most of the time. That's why Ameristar has the movie theaters and the concert hall and all the different types of eating places with different price ranges.

So if they go to a movie or a concert, they may go to the gambling floor and try their luck afterwards. As a matter of fact, the Ameristar is a great place to see a movie. It's not crowded and there aren't any kids!
