What is wrong with KC?!! (Kansas City, St. Louis: cul-de-sac, middle-class, credit)

One of the worst school districts in the nation: do you know why? Because the school board members are all the inbred bi-products of that school district. They think the only way to run a ghetto school is to have school board members that ghetto themselves! KC also is way too spread out for it's size. Why? Because the suburbanites are trying to get out of the ghetto. Everytime they move away, the ghetto follows. That is the problem with Independence and Blue Springs. There was a mall called "Blue Ridge" but was bull-dozed because the ghetto-dwellers moved in and trashed the place. There was another mall called "Bannister". Same thing happened there. Now, the same will eventually happen to Independence Center and Oak Park Mall. These ghetto-dwellers are not happy staying in their own areas. Instead, they have to trash nice areas and ruin them.

The only way to stop the "ghetto" cycle is for the children of the "ghetto" parents to have the same opportunities as families w/ money & can afford to live in places like Blue Springs/Lee's Summit (the schooling, education needed to go to a decent college & make decent money in the future).

Sounds like you are one of those people who are part of the problem! Why don't you invest your energy into something a little more positive... how about donating/volunteering your time to be a mentor to one of these "ghetto" children!

These "ghetto" children are already being mentored! In fact, I am sure they have already assumed a few aliases AND learned how to make/sell crack. The problem is that instead of taking advantage of many "free" handouts that have been afforded to them, they choose to steal, deface, and lie as their lifestyle. I am sure that if you spent some time around Linnwood and Prospect or perhaps around Quindaro Blvd, had your identity stolen, credit ruined, and then they came after your house and family, I am willing to bet you might change your outlook.

Didn't the Blue Ridge mall get replaced by a really really nice Walmart Supercenter? Now it looks 10 times better than it ever did in that area?

Could the fact that Malls are dissapearing, JUST MAYBE, have something to do with Malls not being as needed as they used to be? Not because they are being "ghettofied" or however you put it? Why go into a mall when you can shop at a Walmart that has everything, or onlinem or etc.. etc..?

St. Louis has a horrible school district also and the Galleria which is one of the inner most malls, implemented a curfew of sorts where on Fri. - Sun. kids under the age of 17 (not sure if this is the correct age) must have a parent after 5 pm.

Why don't you supply some facts and figures to go with your statements. Or did you just pull them out of the air? KC has the same growing inner city pains as any other large metro area, no more or no less.

I live in Kansas City. My kids go to good public schools. I don't have to drive everywhere. My home isn't a cookie cutter copy of every other one in my cul-de-sac. You want to escape from the "ghetto dwellers"? Try Lone Jack. You can fly your "symbol of Southern pride" there.

Lone Jack is located in Jackson County Missouri and the population growth has been over 60% in the last 6 years. The town is rapidly becoming part of the KC metro area. Western Missouri and especially areas south of KC have very strong southern influnces even though they do not like to admit it.

So are you trying to disparage this little town. I have owned property in Lone Jack and lived there as well. Sure there will always be a bigot or racist or two around anywhere in the USA. I think it wrong to start implying the wrong ideas about Lone Jack. Bunch of nice people in my book.
