Prediction is $4/gal by this Summer.

Kansas City gas prices jump | Kansas City Business Journal

The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Kansas City has jumped 6.9 cents a gallon during the past week, according to KCGasPrices.com.

The gasoline price website, operated by GasBuddy, reported that the average price of a gallon of gasoline reached $2.90 on Sunday.

That’s still lower than the $3.05 national average, but the U.S. average rose only 1.4 cents a gallon during the past week.

It used to be that gas in KCMO was a bargain and lower than along the I-70 corridor. However, I'm noticing that this was not the case in 2010. Some of the stations around Oak Grove, Sugar Creek and Boonville are about $0.06/gal lower than in the immediate metro area. Of course, that doesn't help unless you are headed away or toward town on I-70. It is the $0.06-$0.10/gal jumps overnight and then the slow back peddle a cent or two over the week that really riles me as you know that the stations are just messing with us at that point.

Gas on my side of the state line use to be 10-20 cents lower than in Kansas but lately they have been running pretty close together.

The difference between the Quik Trips at I-35 and Lamar, and 31st & Southwest Blvd., is $0.07 right now. I agree, the difference has been greater in the past.
