My husband just spent a good part of the past week chasing the elusive Chocolate Ale. He was successful, but it took a lot of work on his part. I've tried it in the bottle and on tap and I'm quite impressed. I was just curious if anyone on here has tried it and thought it might be interesting to know what others had to go through to get a bottle. (My husband actually used a disguise to get past the one bottle limit at the Barry Rd. Hyvee. Shameless, I know).

I have failed in my attempts to find it and it appears it might be gone. Hopefully, another batch will be released.

Apparently the foundry had a keg of it last night and it was gone in less than a half hour.

I kind of get annoyed by limited runs and ensuing hype. It doesn't make me wanna try something, it just makes me irritated.

I'm not a beer drinker, so I probably have no place commenting, but Chocolate ale sounds downright repulsive to me! I can't imagine going out of my way for it.

I think part of the draw is that the chocolate is via Christopher Elbow, local chocolatier of some renown. His gourmet goodies are a huge favorite...I'm not even a big chocolate gal, and I concede that his stuff is pretty decadently amazing.

When I read the OP it made me think of Shatto Root Beer Milk, which is one of the most amazing drinks ever.

I had a chocolate stout this weekend and now I can't remember the name of it, but it was good!

Apparently you've never eaten chili made with both beer and chocolate in it. Quite yummy, IMO.

I didn't get to try the limited run either. Maybe next year they will put out enough to meet at least 1/2 of the demand.
