I have to admit, even the roaring sound of motocycles was welcome. I pruned the Rose of Sharons, which can be safely done now. I was tempted to do more, but my better judgement told me it was too soon. I also contracted with a tree service to do a load of really unpleasant work that I've been dreading. I will look forward to spring as long as I know someone else is going to cut back our 60 big clumps of ornamental grasses and prune the trees.

The Midwest never sees 75F temps in February. Only the Great Plains. Dodge City, KS hit 80F two days ago. Then again, they have a semi-arid grass desert climate.
