Before it was the Crackerneck Country Club that area was the Hermann Family farm. Before Adair Park existed that land was the Dalton Family farm. Both areas were farmed by David Dalton, who died on December 1, 1962.

Where would you be if you were driving along 10th street in Independence and suddenly the road became Falbrook Drive?

This might get a bit complicated, but all the roads are drivable and hard finished but may be due for a final blacktop after major construction in the area has occurred.

You would be three blocks north of east Truman Road and a little east of south Minton Road heading further east on east 10th Street south. Tenth begins to curve northeast and becomes south Falbrook Drive.

After becoming south Falbrook Drive, the street runs into south New Harmony Avenue.

FYI, esp to WCHS . . . the new 5th Series of "A Crime to Remember" began last week on the DiscoveryID channel. (Maybe yesterday, not sure)

Was glad to see it had been renewed for a 5th year. Recall, this was the Sharon Kinne episode from last year (S. 4, Ep. 2, Dec. 2016) The first episode is about the Clutter Family murders/In Cold Blood. Which has a KC connection. I imagine it will be repeated during the week.

I've set the DVR to record all, including repeats. I've watched the Kinne saga several times. I also find the Kitty Genovese (Bystander Effect), Texas Tower mass shooting, the 8 student nurses in Chicago, and the Looking for Mr Goodbar inspiration stories to be of most interest.

Well worth your time historically and culturally if anyone's interested.

Built it and they will come……….?

New Harmony housing area in eastern Independence broke ground in June 2016.

The project is slated to be worth $1b with a 25 year build out on up to 3,000 acres.

The first phase consists of 80 homes on 15 acres

According to bizjournal.com, the anticipation was that the first residents would move in during the spring of 2017.

According to the New Harmony web site, not one house has been sold.

Neither have any lots been sold.

There appear to be five homes constructed,
2-story, $359,400
2-story, $378,900
Ranch, no price listed
1.5 story, no price listed
2-story, no price listed

Maybe this is typical for new homes offered out in the “boonies”. People may be reluctant to be the first.

Perhaps, once the first house is sold the rest will eventually fall in line, or maybe the web site is not kept up to date.

Anyone been by this site on east Truman Road lately?
