Now, everything north from 211, is gone.

I shopped Cochran's also and got the Surveys either there or at Jenkins at BR Mall. I still crave that cherry red Gibson guitar that hung on the pegboard behind the counter at Jenkins.

I had that same problem. I found a you tube with him doing the Lion Sleeps Tonight in front of a congregation, apparently, and it looked like he was lip syncing. I thought I remembered the name but then came across Richie Valens. Maybe MAD can fill in on his singing.

Frankie Valens was in a band called "Eminent Domain" in 1967, which played cover songs and acquired a following. Here's the story: " Frankie Valens - Frankie's Place

When he performed for us there was no lip-syncing, and he sounded good. You can read his bio at Frankie Valens - Singing Pop Legend from the '60s & '70s

I listened to the Lion Sleeps Tonight on this web site but then read elsewhere that the big hit was by the Tokens.

We know it by The Tokens but someone else did a similar-sounding version in 1971-72. I didn't recognize his name associated with any of the songs you listed, so that's why I wondered who he was, especially with the "stage sounding" name.
