It's interesting to learn that the tera cotta was not removed generally but merely covered with stucco. The highly ornamental (from what I remember) pieces on the top of the tower loosely resembled a crown, for lack of a better term.
I wonder if it had accent lighting that highlighted the top when it was new &/or still in prime condition?
On one hand I am sorry to hear that today it's serving as little more than a data center in that there would be very few employees in the building, especially in numbers high enough to generate a bustling sidewalk scene or a need for other businesses to locate in the tower or nearby to service the tenants.
On the other hand, if the present use as a data center is the only thing preventing the building from standing empty & falling into disrepair, then so be it...for now.

Default Brookside Plaza shops

I know EBT had stores downtown and on the CC Plaza but I seem to remember a small one at the 63rd and Brookside Plaza in the late 50s/early 60s. I think it preceded the Rothschilds in the building that is now labelled "Brookside Bakery & Bath" (really?) on the Google map but a friend from those days thinks it might have been further west near Wornall Rd. Looking online for EBT history shows no evidence for this store but it also has nothing about the Rothschilds shop and I'm sure that was there. Can anyone enlighten us on this?
