Crap! I just made plans with a friend for drinks not thinking about it being FF. To those who know the area: Would there be a decent bar we could get drinks at that wouldn't be really busy by 5 or so? Like just a small table for two -- preferably outside?

I was at the Cashew 20th and Grand on Sunday. That bar kicks ass.

My friend was very excited about the prospect of sangria at La Bodega!

She's going through the big D right now so I'm trying to show her a good time (and how awesome the city is so she'll leave Lee's Summit and come live near me!)

So, how busy are the bars down there likely to be around happy hour?
And parking -- is it impossible? Any suggestions?

I heart the Cashew. Definitely will keep that in mind too.

I'd imagine it would depend what time you get down there. I went last month around 9 and parking was a pain in the ass. I think I parked on Oak?

I was at the last FF around 5:30 and it wasn't too busy at that time on the outskirts of Xroads. It picked up significantly after 6PM. If out perimeter of Xroads you'll be OK. But in the heart, it's busy off the bat.

For those driving, you either should arrive before 5:30 to find parking or park at 3rd/Grand in River Market or Linwood/Main Home Depot lot and take the MAX bus. There is almost no way you'll find parking after 6PM in Xroads.

MAX bus guide...

Not outdoors but see if you can get into Manifesto (alley behind Reiger - 19th/Main)... pricey drinks but cool place to show off to visitors for one drink. If you arrive before 5:30, might be able to get in. Best to not mention what it is and just go.
