My wife and I must choose a Ford plant and KC will be on the list.I dont know which we will get. If we get this one where is a good place to live within a 30 minute drive from the assembly plant? I live in farm land now and would like to have something like that.1500sqft ranch,2 car garage,christian school.A good AoG church.Does this exsist? THANX

I've lived in Lee's Summit all of my life. And I have had a successful business here for the past 9 years or so. The area has grown for what I feel is the positive. Public Schools are great and there is a Christian school - their link is
Lee's Summit Community Christian School . Lee's Summit would be w/in 30 minutes of Claycomo where the Ford Plant is. Many areas of North Lee' Summit could be close to 20minutes. However there are also areas North of the River (which is where the Ford Plant is) like Liberty that are also nice areas but I'm not sure about a Christian School there. The type of house you mentioned would be very easy to find in Lee's Summit and price ranges would vary on the type of bells and whistles desired. If you are wanting to still be on Farm land - that might be a little harder to come by but still possible. Raymore is a smaller area just a bit South of Lee's Summit. Might be another area you should consider checking into. Hope this helps. When will you be told for sure if you'll be moving to this area? Good luck w/ it all!

Ok, yes, I have to agree, Lee's Summit Community is awesome. My kids do their testing there every year and I go to a "sister" church in Belton. Belton is awesom, but would be too far out for you.
If you are going to be at the plant in Claycomo, you might try the Liberty area initially. It is still fairly rural in the surrounding area. Quite beautiful actually. I had some friends that were also smitten with Kearney. I don't know if you have ever considered homeschooling, but the support out here is HUGE and there are tons of activities and groups to be involved in.

I'm new to the area so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Lee's Summit seems really built up to me and if you prefer farmland I don't think it will suit your tastes. The outlying areas are rural but the bulk of it is built up. You might want to check out Smithville and Kearney, which are not nearly as built up and have a lot of rural areas. I am in Liberty right now and it also has more of a small-medium size feel to it.

Usually, I do not recommend that newcomers to a city move to the far outlying areas of the metro area. Their seems to be a trend in many metro areas to assume that the far outlying exurban areas are better than the more established mature suburbs and urban areas. I think that the encouragement to move to the far edge of the metro area contributes even more to the urban sprawl problem. In my opinion suburbs and urban areas should be medium to high density which leads to more land being available for parks and open space (greenbelts). The Chicago metro has many forest preserves and greenbelts in many of the suburban areas.

Maybe this would help,I dont mind buying 10acres or more so I can hunt and shoot at will,without disturbing the peace.If that means a 1hr drive so be it

Yes, try Excelsior Springs or Kearney in Clay County Missouri. Plattsburg and other areas of Clinton County would also have more acerage available at fairly affordable prices.

South of the River, you can find acreage in Raymore and Peculiar - maybe even Belton for decent prices. Lee's Summit acreage would tend to be pricey and would most likely have to go w/ quite a bit more than 10 acres to be able to have a good piece of land to hunt on. All of these places would put you at most - 35 to 45 minutes from Ford Plant. Straight highway shot - just depends on what time of the day you'd be going. My Asst.'s hubby worked there at one time and got there from South Lee's Summit in about 25 minutes but that was the NIGHT shift. Big difference in traffic in the middle of the night of course.
