What are they going to do with that Joe Joes Italian Eatery Building on 42nd and Main? It's a cool little building and man that food was great! The building has been empty for over 5 years now are there plans to do anything with it? Wonder whatever happened to Joe Joes.

It was gone by the time I moved here, but I do hope something happens with the building eventually ...

I am amazed that area hasn't had more development. The city really should focus on making the area between the Plaza and Westport a corridor that is walkable and vibrant. As well as the Plaza to the Nelson.

Broadway looks pretty good all the way from downtown to the Plaza, but Main is definitely a different story. Not scary or anything, just a bit dilapidated and empty.

According to Walkscore pretty much all of midtown is considered the most walkable in the entire city. I really dislike that strech on Main from Westport Rd till almost till about Natures Market, it seems like every building is set back really far

Agree with both of you! Main should really be the shining star corridor through Midtown, but its an urban wasteland in many parts. Hopefully the streetcar can change that.

Sounds like it. They say construction will begin in 2013. Have to get the funding sorted out, but it sounds like it will be a very limited tax along where the streetcar will be (Main Street) and perhaps some federal funding.

It will be a tax only in a limited area, unlike Overland Park or KCK which raised property tax on everyone in the city.
