Willow Creek Apartments are fine and definately close. Transit is pretty limitted, though.

There are plenty of duplexes and 4-plexes in Waldo in your price range though, which would make your commute under 5 minutes and put you within a couple blocks of the KC's excellent central corridor bus line that runs from 75th all the way to downtown regularly 7 days a week, as well as a local route that goes right by 8900 Ward PKWY. East Brookside also has some duplexes in your price range.

Plaza, Westport, West Plaza, Roanoke and Volker (basicall 36th St to about 50th, from Main to State Line) are all great neighborhoods with decent to good bus transit and loads of nice rental spaces in your price range, as is the eastern part Rosedale in KC, Kansas, though there are more rental houses there and fewer apartments, as well as very sparse transit.

Anywhere Downtown has good transit and a quick commute down 71 HWY to SKC. Probably 20 minutes under ideal conditions and 30 during "traffic jams", which, as KCMO said, will probably not even register with you after DC traffic.

That's a great spot. Very walkable to 2 good groceries, lots of local shops/restaurants/services, a couple bars, 2 good bus lines, a great urban walking/jogging trail, very safe and a classy apartment to boot. Probably a max 10 minute drive to 8900 Ward, 5 minutes to the Plaza and 15 to Downtown on city streets plus good highway access for getting out of town.

I want! I mean, I can't, but I want it. OP, highly recommend this area. Given your budget seems like a solid place to look!

OP, if you want their direct email or phone number let me know and i can give it you. It really would be a great spot for you and super short commute. It's 2 bedrooms as well, you could rent out one of the other rooms if you needed to.

Having spent some time fairly recently at the Willow Creek apartments, I can vouch for them still being nice.

Thank you all for your posts. The earliest I could relocate is January. I don't know if those apartments will still be available. Glad to hear that it is a great neighborhood.

Why is the area between Delaware and Grand ideal in the River Market area?

because it's a little more lively, more stuff to do around there and safer. The area between oak to cherry kind of is a transition zone between River market and Columbus park.

I think I just fell in love with Brookside. It appears that I could have a nice life in the suburbs but have easy access into dowtown without ridiculous traffice. Plus it looks close to the 8900 Ward Parkway area.

So is Brookside a nice, safe area for a single female in her mid-thirties. I want to experience all of KC (nightlife, museums, dining) but not be completely surrounded by it. I know I am getting pickier by the day on what I want.

Any thoughts?
