I am moving to Kansas City, KS this summer and attending KUMC. I will be moving with my girlfriend who will be looking for a job in social work. We are looking for a nice apartment to move into. Ideally the apartment would be less than $1000 a month including utilities. Any ideas? Thanks!

Do you need to live on the KS side for residency purposes? If not, I'd look into the neighborhood on the MO side that directly abuts the ku med campus, called Volker.
39th Street West has good restaurants, coffee shops, dive bars and vintage/boutique shopping. I live in the area and it's safe, affordable and walkable. Highly recommended -- especially given that you could easily walk to work!

Isn't there some new construction residential finally going up on the KS side of state line near KU med like along Rainbow? Seems like gold mine if that ever got hot.

^Yeah, last I checked there was no signage indicating when it will be complete, and I'm sure it will be wildly expensive, but a boon to the neighborhood no less.
