Prepping to move for work in Leavenworth, but a lot of the places I like are over the MO state line. Any advantages to doing this? Would I have to pay income tax in both states, and if so would I get a refund from one in my tax returns?

One big advantage is you get to live where you want to live! Don't worry about taxes and what not. (it's really not a big deal anyway).

Live where you will enjoy yourself and your surroundings.

If you like kcmo, (I'm assuming the urban core areas), then chances are you will not enjoy living in a place like Leavenworth County.

It's not a bad commute. Live where you will enjoy life the most, wherever that is and regardless of a few dollar difference in taxes a year.

But to ease your mind. You will pay the kcmo etax, but also a lower MO state income tax. In the end, it's probably going to be about the same.
