It's not the end of the world if they don't win a championship and not the best thing in the world if they do win a championship. But there is a huge mizzou fan base. It may just be a sleeping giant and the SEC may just be the thing to awaken it.

MU had one of the larger football stadiums in the Big12 and now will be in the bottom third. MU is a pretty good sized school and the biggest sports program in a rather populated state. I wonder if we may see an expanded Faurot Field in the near future.

Tennessee 102,455
Alabama 101,821
Georgia 92,746
LSU 92,542
Florida 88,548
Auburn 87,451
Texas A&M 83,002
South Carolina 80,250
Arkansas 76,000
Missouri 71,004
Kentucky 67,530
Ole Miss 60,580
Mississippi State 55,082
Vanderbilt 39,790
Mizzou would be "obsessed" too if they ever won anything in basketball. They don't. They were salivating over the chance to win the Big 12 title, but KU won it for the 8th year in a row. Maybe it's because MU fans don't support their basketball team. Allen Fieldhouse is full, even for non-conference games. Attendance for MU's game tonight, their last home game and senior night, and an important conference game, was 6000. By the way, Memorial Stadium at KU is always full for football, too, even though we haven't had a good football team for a few years.

You don't beg your way into the SEC. They are the premier football conference and choose who they want, which is likely the reason they don't have exit fees - no one wants to leave.

I have no doubt KU will be fine in basketball. You will continue to rack up conference championship banners in the Mountain West Conference after the inevitable implosion of the Big 12.
You still never won a championship in ANYTHING. I don't care how "good" your football team is, if you can't win a championship you're not really as good as you think you are.

Keep telling yourself that about the SEC. MU will be irrelevant next year. Too bad the Big 10 didn't want you.

The Big 12 isn't going anywhere, and it's just stupid for Mizzou fans to keep saying KU is going to be in the Mountain West Conference. Stupid.

Have you read your board since KU beat you on Saturday? I've never seen so much whining in my life. Even saying the Big 12 is out to get MU and everything is fixed so MU won't win, that there is a conspiracy not to let MU win anything. Please. How ridiculous can you be? How crybaby can you be?

In Columbia, you guys were fouling Robinson and not being called for it. We were getting called for everything. At least in Lawrence, the officialing was a little more even, although in the first half we had bogus calls on Robinson and Withey and they were benched, and that's what allowed MU to make a 19 point run. In the second half it evened out and we were able to catch up and beat you.

But your fans are STILL complaining about Saturday's game.

Then complaining about the refs wasn't enough, the board went into a tizzy talking about all our players, calling them thugs, bullies. Asking how they have money for tattoos, making fun of Tyshawn Taylor's mother and insinuating that she is a poor black woman and must be getting help from boosters to travel to the games, saying she has a minimum wage job at HyVee and there is no way she can afford to go to games on her own, all kinds of racist comments on the board. How pathetic can you guys be? You made fun of Thomas Robinson when his grandparents and mother died all within a few weeks of each other. They also make fun of Bill Self, call him a cheater, a liar. Really? Do you guys have any class at all? I already know the answer to that. Bill Self is a class act.

All the while, your coach hangs out in strip clubs and is under investigation by the NCAA.

But even if they did win and win a lot, I just don't see the average Missouri resident getting as carried away with it as these other states. Maybe after 40 years of very good programs and multiple championship runs? But even then, I think a lot of Missouri sports fans would be more casual and MU will still take a back seat or at least share support with pro sports. I understand that Texas and Georgia have pro sports too, but it’s just different there. I lived in StL and people just don’t get into MU that much and StL is like 1/3 of the state. KC is all over the place (pro and college) and the southern parts of MO tend to stray away from MIZZOU too.

I agree, a lot of no-shows at MU basketball games. Many of the alumni live in KC and StL and don’t make the drive. I’m not sure if MU basketball will ever get much of a foothold in the state. KC is all about KU basketball and StL has SLU (and is just more of a pro sports town).

But football may be where MU could take it up a notch. Maybe not to the level of LSU or something, but I think they will compete and the fans will be solid in the SEC.

KU or KSU won't pop in mind either when it comes to football lol, but I guarantee you that when you think of college basketball KU is and will always be an elite contender. One thing I love about both KU and MU is the rivalry and hatred that they have for each other is no different than how the states feel about each other. Me personally I have no problem with the Missouri side have family from that side of the water and lots of friends, but some people are different. Any way the one thing that cracks me up is how when mizzou was big 12 they were all for their conference now that they are leaving they bad talk it like that not were they came from hahaha. I might see someone still in college or just started and never experience the big 12 conference, but for you alumni or mizzou fans who were raised watching the big 12 to know down the conference I laugh at you. I live in SEC-LAND right now in little rock, ar and although they are happy to add 2 big 12 teams, I listen to sports talk down here and they don't find you guys a threat at all. They say you may average 6 wins nothing more, they acknowledge you are a decent program, but think you will always be a mid level team. Now I'm just going off what I hear people say down here. SEC is a BEAST of a conference, but that's not going to make you a beast, because now your SEC member. Good luck in the SEC I hope you do good over their. Oh yeah one last thing, happy to see KSU beat you guys twice and KU send you cats out with a tucked tail hahahahaha. Good luck in the SEC guy football games are the best in SEC.
Thank you! Exactly! Missouri isn't going to be a powerhouse in the SEC. They are going to be mediocre just like they've always been. Have never been able to win a championship, and their mediocrity will continue in the SEC.

Guess what, Mizzou is in the SEC now so you can stop worrying so much about us! In other words, take a flying leap!

When is kU going to grow some class and get rid of that nickname?

Until then never forget: jayhawk = classless scum!

It was NEVER going to happen in the B12. Letting the Texas schools join the Big 8 was a mistake IMHO.

kU fans know this which is why they carry on as they do, jealousy brings out the worst in people. They know they will never get a sniff of the SEC and if the little 12 does implode the Mountain West becomes reality.

luzianne, where do you think you'll go when the Big12 officially falls apart? Or are you still in denial that that will happen?

Also, why are you still hanging out on the dumb MU board? I thought you said you only went to see the discussion of Thomas Robinson?
