I think most people know it's kinda of gimicky and it's obviously a chain not unique to a city's culture, but most people don't really care that much about all that. If they are in town doing what ever, it's a pretty safe place to get some decent (even if somewhat overpriced) bar and grill food and then continue about your day in the city.

I know I don't hunt them down, but we hit them once in a while just because they are convenient and you know what they have and they can accommodate anybody's tastes in a group.

The last hard rock we went to was Cleveland while in town for a Royals series. There is not a lot within walking distance of Jacobs open on the weekends the Hard Rock was full of sports fans so it worked out well.

The one in DC seems to get quite a few locals for happy hours and stuff. The Balitmore one is a very high volume place and a huge draw for the inner harbor.

The franchise has been around forever as others have come and gone (ie; planet hollywood) so they must be doing something right.

But a HRC in crown center, downtown or the plaza would compliment grinders and gates not compromise them.
I totally agree! I am a born New Yorker; however, have been in KC for a number of years now and really miss the fun activities and action (especially sophisticated, high-quality entertainment with major entertainers) that Kansas City lacks. Kansas City is a good place to raise a family, but once our kids are grown....what's left for us singles still wanting to enjoy life (that is, other than dinner and a movie)?

I've been to a handful of Hard Rock Café's around the world and never understood the appeal either. The cocktails aren't bad but the food is subpar and the service is just standard. Very overpriced for mediocre!

Don't worry, Kansas City isn't missing out!

The people who are attracted to HRCs seems to be those also attracted to Vegas. If Vegas is one of your favorite places, KC is definitely not for you.

Pretty much my opinion as well. I went to the HRC in London in the '80s and have been to the one at Niagra Falls. Went to the American Bandstand in OP years ago before it folded just because friends wanted to go. Meh...... .
