Default RN just moved to Kansas City from VA inquiring about hospitals

I just moved here, live in Gladstone now. I am an experienced RN looking for a hospital that has a good rep in the community for good care. Also, really caring for employee satisfaction. This is what we all would like!!!!! I worked in the in house flex-pool previously. Would like flex pool in ICU or Med Tele. Are flex pool jobs (no benefits more pay) common here?Which hospital is known best for cardiology treatment. Heard good things about ST Lukes--Northland is closest to me...

Not sure about job availability but St. Luke's Northland is a very highly rated hospital. I live right outside of Gladstone and go there for not only hospital care but also for our regular family doctor. We had our youngest child their as well. Everyone there seems to be really knowledgeable and friendly.

I know that medical jobs in KC are difficult because we have so many medical and nursing programs through our universities.

I believe North Kansas City Hospital is known for cardiac care but that place pisses me off for reasons I wont go into.

I would venture to say that when you hear of St. Luke's and Cardiac Care they are referring to the "main" St. Lukes at 44th and Wornall. Not that there's anything wrong with St. Lukes Northland but the top notch stuff St. Lukes is known for is at the main hospital.

I'm a fan of North Kansas City Hospital myself. I left my gall bladder there.

The Saint Luke's Health System, I would say, is the best in Kansas City. Saint Luke's on the Plaza is going to be the highest level of care. That is where trauma patients go and when patients are at the other Saint Luke's facilities, they are often transferred to the Plaza location if they need a higher level of care. Children's Mercy Hospital if you are looking at Pediatrics.

I don't know about that...I worked at both KU and Saint Luke's. Saint Luke's has a much better reputation, in my opinion. I am a University of Kansas alum, and KU Med Center is okay, but as far as hospitals go, I prefer Saint Luke's.

Thanks everyone....let me add, I am looking for night shift work, so how would the drive be from Gladstone to Ku med or st lukes on the plaza being that I would be traveling "opposite" people leaving out or coming in the city. Or does that even matter? Also, should I be aware of safety concerns going in at night?
