considering moving to the KC area, tips??? (real estate, houses)

My husband and I are considering moving to the KC (KS side) area and we just wanted to get some tips on good neighborhoods and places that are safe and ideal to raise a family. We are both young (mid-late 20's) and would like to live near KC but not in the city itself. What are some areas close to the city that are fairly easy access to the freeways? Our ideal budget is at most $300,000 and would prefer a newer, 3+ bedroom home WITH A YARD!! We have looked at several listings online but we just don't know what areas to search through.

Getting close to the city with newer construction in Kansas under 300k is going to be a toughie. Lots of lovely older homes to be had at that pricepoint near the city and lots of newer houses under 300k farther away from the city.

Dave ramsay/s website has an ELP for real estate , you can ask a johnson county realtor many questions. Interview the realtors first, and see who has the most experience ,and that you feel comfortable with. Lots of deals out there. It/s a buyers market
