KC's Best Burgers
KC was recently listed as one of the Top 10 best cities for burgers.
America's best burger cities - Yahoo! Travel
As a hardcore burger enthusiast myself, this leads me to ask the question: Where in Kansas City are the best burgers????????
Locals or visitors who have the inside scoop on great spots to go to (hole in the wall or finer dining) doesn't matter to me. Please share.

Flea Market in westport was always great. But I gotta say , I do like Five guys for a chain, although I don't like their fries, too greasy.

YUCK! Froo-froo, artisan, designer, Yuppie hamburgers in too many places. Give me a good honest 80/20, well-seasoned, ⅓ to ½ pound burger made from local, grass-fed Angus beef cooked medium rare on a grill with lettuce, vine-ripened tomato just picked, red or vidalia onions, mustard and a bit of ketchup served hot on a fresh ciabatta bun, pickles and mayo optional, and it's pure, hamburger heaven.
Wait a minute! That's what I serve here at home. I knew that all sounded familiar. Match with plenty of napkins 'cause it's gonna drip!

Yeah, I don't care for Blanc burger type places - but most anything has a 'specialty' variant. I'm particular about lots of food but not burgers so much. If it's reasonably good quality meat that has a nice grill flavor, I'm satisfied with just a good cheese and mustard or sometimes grilled mushrooms and onions. There are many bar and grill and BBQ places in KC that pull that off pretty well. Then again, there are a lot of bad burgers out there. A 'fine' burger in LA is scary grey meat.
At home/friends though, I suppose my favorite is grilled buffalo burger with a smoked split serrano pepper and a hot mustard.

KC Smoke Burgers on West 39th is pretty awesome. Great burgers. Great presentation. Very good value.
KC Smoke Burgers: Kansas City, KS (Order Online)
I'd rather go there or even Hamburger Mary's over Blanc, which some of my group likes. Blanc is too glamorous and pricy for what you get, but I guess it's okay every once in a while.

^Yeah, the lamb burgers at Smoke Burgers are pretty good - but no beer. OK for lunch. I wonder why the address is KCK, it's actually in KCMO.

Another vote for the Flea Market from me. Mr. Dokie adores Hayes' Hamburgers on Vivion Road, a greasy-spoon cafe with White Castle-type burgers complete with the grilled onions. He's eaten them all his life, with no apparent negative side effects.
I also like Chubby's.

Fric and Frac on 39th Is it still there?
There's a hole in the wall (but very clean) place called Harold's on Admiral Blvd. just east of downtown. Good fast food style, but they're only open for breakfast and lunch. I always thought their burgers blew Town Topic out of the water.

This is exactly why we end up there so infrequently even though it's so close. They should really get a liquor license -- that patio is just begging for the happy hour crowd.
For my part, Westport Flea Market wins hands down -- they just don't get much jucier and delicious than that and I love how thick their cheese slices are.
But when you want a good ol' steakburger with the crispy edges, Winstead's makes my heart sing.
Edit: I go back and forth on Blanc, but that au poivre is pretty damn good.
