Hi All,

I am moving to a new place - Kansas city, MO for work. I dont really have much idea about the place.
I am looking for apartments close to this address : 10234 Marion Park Dr, Kansas City, MO 64137, as I want to avoid driving much.

Is this a good and safe area to look for apartments?
What would you recommend places to live at around this area.

Thanks for the help.

I would avoid most apartment complexes in that area. Look around 435 and Holms and Wornal in South KC instead. That will be a short drive (rush hour traffic will be going the other way) in a nice safe area.
kansas city, mo - Google Maps

You could also look out in the Lee's Summit area, it's more suburban, but you will have a lot to choose from out there and it wouldn't be a terrible drive, although a bit longer than from SKC and you will be going with traffic.

Terrible area for apartments.

Look at Lees Summit, really nice suburb and a short highway drive straight in and everyone else working at Cerner/Aventis/Aptuit will probably be out that way too.

If you want something on the suburban side I'd look at Lee's Summit and if you want something more walkable and urban I'd look in the KCMO neighborhood of Waldo. Both areas are plenty safe and would provide a relatively easy commute so it's just a matter of what kind of experience you're looking for.

Best of luck, and feel free to ask more specific questions when and if you have them!

Not many apartments in Waldo though, that's why I mentioned watts mill, red bridge etc.

Not a ton probably, but there appear to be solid options in the sub $800 rent category in the vicinity:

2 bed room 1 bath Duplex
2 Bedroom 1 Bath Available after 11/1/12
WEST WALDO - PRAIRIE VILLAGE DUPLEX
For rent Apartment 2ND Floor of Waldo Brookside Home Private Entrance

Thank you all for your replies. I appreciate it. It has started making more sense now

One last thing, if I am joining innovation center at Cerner and will be using cab, which hotels would you recommend for 1-2 weeks of stay around it?

Thank you. Have a nice day!

I would say your best bet would be to stay in one of the hotels near 435 and Holmes. If you can't find anything there, I would look on the Kansas side along 435, there will be plenty to choose from other there, it would be just a further drive.

There's an extended stay on 103rd just west of Holmes. Maybe 5 minutes away. You might not need an extended stay type hotel though, I don't really know what the cutoff is where those make sense, I've never used one.

Anything that close to the old Bannister Mall area is probably trouble. Sad to say, but it just looks deader and deader out there each time I come back. The apartments were first to go--now even the housing looks pretty run down. Since the apartments have been in rough shape for an even longer time, I can't imagine what they'd look like these days.
