Grand jury finds that OP statue is not obscene - Kansas City Business Journal

Glad to see this. Curious as to others thoughts on the matter. Obscene or no?

I think I'd say it's "inappropriate."

The fact that matters like these even come up not only make me a bit embarrassed for my country, but seriously concerned about how "off" the US can really get some times with its priorities... Women have breasts? with nipples??? My god, hide the children from this horror!!!

It's ugly, but not obscene, IMHO

I hope tax dollars weren't wasted on acquiring this, a price tag would be the only obscene thing about it.

^The Arboretum, as a public entity and an educational, recreational and cultural resource for Overland Park (and the whole KC metro), does survive in part on taxpayer dollars.

That's clearly a whole other argument though.

This grand jury? Well that was certainly a waste of taxpayer dollars however.

Wow? You think it should be removed? What the hell is wrong with you people? It's a statue. It's art and it is anything but obscene or inappropriate. It is not going to corrupt children or anything of the like. I would gladly take my kids there and walk by it without thinking about it. Chances are, no kids thought anything of it before unreasonable adults made it an issue. The human body is nothing to be ashamed of or hide. Everyone has a naked body.

I know I wouldn't want my children there. Statue or not, it is inappropriate. But I guess everyone raises children differently...
