It is fair to say that ATL has more gays and more black professionals, but ugh, what an uninteresting mess of a metro. It is a corporate powerhouse though. The arts scene in ATL is deplorable for its size. KC has much more depth methinks (more than Phoenix too).

I wish you would have said where you live. I really do know an absolute ton of LGBT-ers in Kansas City, particularly lesbians.

Have you been to a gtg? Pretty sure I was the only straight chick there when I went

Is interesting to see outsider perception on 'gay friendliness' and it's not surprising people coming to KC would just assume it is probably not. But ATL doesn't come in very high in perception either...

Dallas, Phoenix and Denver came in even lower than KC in terms of outsider perception. In some burbs, yes, there are some homophobes, in the city no really cares - a non-issue.

^Atlanta has had a huge lesbian scene for a long time, and Pride there is a super big deal.

^Yeah, I know, but it was interesting to see perception from travelers.

I think you will be fine in Kansas City.
