I'm looking to get back into playing cards after taking a little break. I am still new to KS and don't really know the casinos or how they are.

Does anyone have any insight on the different card rooms? How does the Hollywood Casino compare to the other ones in the area?

For a long time the only card-room around was Ameristar, I played there a few times but that was a couple years ago and I havent gone in ages.

I heard the one in KCMO by the bridge (Isle of Capri? or whatever it's called) added a card-room.

I think your best luck is just swing over by Hollywood, play some and ask the regulars their opinions while hanging out. Seems like that would be the best source of up-to-date information from the guys in the know.

Good luck.

Well the first thing is to get your geography straight. Hollywood Casino is in Kansas City, Kansas, not Overland Park.

I have no clue, I thought it was overland park.

Is it that big of a deal either way?

Cool, so Ameristar also. How was that card room back when you played there? Do they have any sort of rewards program for the poker players?

I'm actually surprised they don't have one. Anything in the metro they can duplicate in their own city they seem to try.

FYI and no, it really doesn't matter, but these casinso are all 30 miles from Overland Park.

Ameristar and Isle of Capri are in Kansas City, MO
Harrah's is in North Kansas City, MO
Argosy is in Riverside, MO
Hollywood is in Kansas City, KS

I have been to them all and I like Ameristar and think it's a full tier above all the others.

Next up would be a tie between Argosy and Harrah's

Fourth would be Hollywood and lastly Isle of Capri which I pretty much can't stand.

Ameristar is a nice place but my information is dated. I don't remember their rewards program but I was never a "regular".

Sorry, but outside of the basic info I just don't know.

For the benefit of the OP, the argosy is less than 10 miles from the north end of OP but given the general light traffic in the area it's just best to find the best place for him since it can't be that far of a drive regardless of where it is.

I don't know about the OP casino angle....when people get desperate for budget money just about anything can happen and OP is *huge*.

I have to imagine everyone in the area is still drooling over revitalizing an area with some sort of "legends" complex.
